Influenza Information

Cost: $19.99

The flu is a highly contagious viral infection that can cause severe illness and life-threatening complications. It is spread by contact with respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Influenza is a potentially serious illness that affects around 1.2 million New Zealanders every year. It impacts the whole body and can prevent you from working, doing sport, or enjoying the activities you love. The best protection against influenza is getting the annual influenza vaccine.

Annual immunisation is recommended because the virus is constantly changing, and the vaccine changes accordingly.
